Why are biofilms important to us?

This is the first in a series of infographics that highlight interesting facts about biofilms and their relevance to our daily lives. Chronic infections and poor water quality are global problems with a severe human toll and kill more people than headline-grabbing causes of death such as shark attacks or airliner accidents. Biofilm research that aim to fight chronic infections and improve water quality can help to save many lives worldwide.
