Ben Libberton

Science Communicator, Freelance

I'm a freelance science communicator, formerly a Postdoc in the biofilm field. I'm interested in how bacteria cause disease and look to technology to produce novel tools to study and ultimately prevent infection.
Daniel Morse

PhD Student, Cardiff University

PhD student interested in oral biofilms; Candida associated biofilms and Candida-bacteria interactions, and modelling biofilm infection. Also interested in tissue engineering, immunology of and host cell responses to biofilm infection.

Associate professor , University of South Florida

Our lab studies gut host-microbe interactions with the model organism, Ciona intestinalis. We are also developing a variety of novel in vitro biofilm assays to study the role of biofilm formation in colonization of mucosal surfaces.
Nuno Filipe Azevedo

Researcher, Faculty of Engineering University of Porto

Nuno Azevedo obtained his degree in Biological Engineering in 2001 at the University of Minho (UMinho), Portugal. He then finished his PhD on Chemical and Microbial Technology in 2005 at the same institution. After holding a Post-doctoral position at the UMinho and the University of Southampton (UK) for 4 years, he started a Faculty Research Fellow position at the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Porto in June 2009. Nuno Azevedo’s main research interests are to understand the population dynamics in biofilms and explore the potential of peptide nucleic acids (PNA) and other nucleic acid mimics for the rapid localization and detection of microorganisms.
