We're pleased to note that Prof. Orphan, Editorial Board member for npj Biofilms and Microbiomes, has been made a fellow of the MacArthur Foundation.

Prof. Orphan studies the molecular ecology of microbial communities involved in carbon, nitrogen, and sulfur cycling, in particular in the context of deep subsurface habitats, deep sea marine sediments, oil and gas seeps, and early Earth analogue environments.
